Launching Our Students' Summer Learning

Workshop Description: 

For our students, a break from classes often means a break from learning. In 3 short months, students can backslide, losing recent learning gains and precious momentum. In this 3-hour workshop we will explore habits, strategies and incentives we can establish in our class, so our students have the tools they need to maintain their own learning momentum during those summer months.
 

Workshop Learning Objectives - Participants will be able to:

  • Implement concrete student-facing planning tools for summer learning.
  • Create an array of study skills and learning routines students can use on their own.
  • Create program-wide summer-project ideas to incentivize summer learning.
     

Presenter:

Sarah Lynn is an ESOL instructor, teacher educator, curriculum designer, and ESOL textbook author in the Boston area. She facilitates workshops on learning and instruction and teaches part-time at the Cambridge Community Learning Center.

This workshop is free to staff of all Massachusetts non-profit ABE and ESOL Programs.
